I see many people run to the hospital for every small health issue. Most of the people who live in cities directly goes to super speciality hospitals even for a simple cough and cold on the first day of the viral attack.
This post is the real incident of a 20-year old patient who undergone various tests for a simple gastric problem. When he consulted a gastroenterologist, the doctor said,”you may be suffering from a minor gastric problem. But undergo the following medical tests. Abdominal scanning, endoscopy, colonoscopy and complete blood test.” Doctor should prescribe these tests only if he suspects any major health issues. Doctor identified that the patient is suffering from a small problem after understanding the symptoms. Then why he needs patient to undergo all these tests. But, without asking any question, the patient agreed to undergo these tests.
Most of the patients behave in the same way.
It’s Ok doctor may be commercial, but it is patients responsibility to ask the doctor why he needs to undergo all these tests if the problem is minor. Moreover, it is first time visit to a physician, no significant symptoms identified. The patient should ask the doctor for medicines instead of undergoing tests directly. Most of the medical examinations may have side effects that may damage inner parts of the body. Why should a patient take that risk if he doesn’t require to undergo a test?
It is patients responsibility to take care of their health. Patients should understand when they need to undergo a test and when not required. Few doctors suggest medical examination to identify the reason in early stages, but few doctors recommend medical examination to gain financial gain.
Finally, it’s common sense to consult a doctor first when you are suffering from any health problem. But, before consulting a doctor, you should try a natural home remedy if your are suffering from a minor health issue like a cough, cold, fever, headache and gastro problems. You should not delay in seeing a doctor if problem increases.
